Sun Salutation B
This perfect 19 steps or poses, requires basic physical strength and stamina. And if breathing is wrong, then the poses won’t be smooth and hence will make it that much harder to hold the pose or even move from one pose to another in a slow sequence. Hence one needs to work on the breathing and have basic physical strength to enjoy the practice of Sun Salutations B. Given below are some of the conditions to keep in mind while practicing this pose.

- General body weakness, is not considered a great situation to practice Surya Namaskar B, as it can only bring in more tiredness and pain in the body. Hence one could start with basic movements or simple breathing techniques to build the strength in the body.
- Injury at the shoulder, can be taxing while practicing Sun Salutation B, as this requires enough and more muscle strength at the shoulders and the arms for poses like, Chaturanasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana and Urdhva Mukha Svanasana. Hence best avoided during any form of injury at the shoulders.
- Weak lower back or a bad back will not support as the spine expands and contracts putting pressure on the lower back and the hip. Make sure help from an experienced yoga teacher is taken while practicing these poses with a weak or injured lower back.
- High Blood Pressure patients should go slow with their yoga practice and must completely avoid the practice of Sun Salutations B, as the downward and upward movement of the chest may bring a lot of strain to the pulse. Hence guidance to take it step by step and slow with simpler yoga poses is very essential.
- Injury at the wrists or legs will make this practice very difficult as too much emphasis is on the wrist and the feet for the 19 poses. Pressure at the foot and the wrists will add to the injury and hence best to avoid.
- Pregnant Women should most certainly avoid the practice of Surya Namaskar B, as it requires quick movements forward and backwards and the extensive stretch of the legs and the spine, may put pressure on the fetus. Balancing too can be a challenge, and hence best to avoid this practice even if one is comfortable with yoga.
It is always advisable to go into practice with proper guidance when one is having one or more aliments to deal with. One could also start with the 12 step yoga poses of Surya Namaskar , taking it one step at a time, before coming into the 19 step poses of Surya Namaskar B.
